The best AI companion app for most adults in 2026 is Kindroid. It remembers months of conversation, takes voice and video calls, and allows explicit roleplay. Nomi has the best free plan for adults. We checked each app's prices, free plan and rules on November 5, 2026, on its own website, help pages and App Store listing. Candy AI's prices come from our paid test on October 24, and we didn't buy the other apps' plans.

1. Kindroid, best overall
Kindroid is a companion you build yourself: you write her personality, backstory and key memories, then pick her looks and voice. Its memory guide says a subscriber's Kindroid can recall "hundreds or thousands of messages," with a long-term memory behind that. She takes voice calls and live video calls where her avatar lip syncs as she talks, and if you allow it, she messages, sends a selfie or calls you first.
Kindroid's moderation guidelines say it doesn't filter the AI and doesn't police "fictional scenarios, fantasy, or NSFW roleplay." It's for adults only, runs on iPhone, Android and the web, and has 4.8 stars from more than 10,000 App Store ratings.
The catch is the free plan. Kindroid ended unlimited free messaging on October 1, 2026, so a new account gets a one-time preview of 50 messages and 5 selfies. After that you need a subscription or a 3-day trial, which needs a card. On the App Store it costs $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year, and Kindroid's subscription page says buying on its website is usually cheaper.
Best for: people who want to talk to her out loud and want her to remember what happened months ago.
2. Nomi, best free plan
Nomi is built around memory and personality. Its website describes short, medium and long-term memory, and Nomis send voice messages, take hands-free calls and send selfies of what they're wearing and doing. On a paid plan you can have up to 10 Nomis and put them in group chats together.
Nomi has the most generous free plan of the apps that allow adult content: its help wiki says it's indefinite, with 50 messages a day. Nomi's homepage says chats should "remain unfiltered and uncensored," but in a May 2026 livestream, Nomi's team said the iPhone and Android apps are the most restricted and a paid account on the website is the least.
On the App Store, the Standard plan costs $15.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and the Launch plan costs $9.99 a month. Nomi doesn't refund subscriptions.
Best for: people who want a long-running relationship and want to try it properly before paying.
3. Candy AI, best for photos and video
Candy AI is an adult AI girlfriend app with more ready-made content than any other app here: hundreds of characters, private video packs, Live Action videos where you pick what she does, and 203 Shorts series (video stories in short episodes) when we counted them on November 2. In our paid test, the character remembered our name, job and dog's name four messages later, and Candy saves key details by itself after 20 messages.
Premium costs $13.99 a month, or $3.99 a month billed yearly at $47.88, and includes unlimited chat and 100 tokens a month. Almost everything beyond text costs tokens, at $9.99 for 100: a chat photo is 4, a Shorts episode 30 and a private pack 145 to 330. The free account gets 5 messages and one image. Candy has no App Store app, so you use it in your browser.
Best for: people who want lots of ready-made photos and video and don't mind buying tokens. Our Candy AI review has every price and test.
4. Lovi Dream, best for stories and token value (our app)
Lovi Dream is our app, so read this part with that in mind. You chat with 27 ready-made girls, realistic and anime, or create your own AI girlfriend, from her looks to her personality. She sends photos in chat, Premium adds voice messages, and explicit chat is allowed.
Lovi also has stories to watch and read. Shorts are one-minute video episodes shot from your point of view, and the first episodes of all 5 series play without an account. In Lovi's 5 adult comics, the girl from the story messages you when you finish a chapter, and in Live Action you choose what Kristina or Yamila does on video.
