Is CrushOn AI Safe? Privacy, Billing and Your Chats (2026)
CrushOn AI is safe enough to try with an email address you don't use anywhere else, but it's a poor place for anything personal. We found no reported data breach, and you can cancel a paid plan in your profile. The risks are in CrushOn's own policies: it may use your chats to train AI models, it can share your messages with the outside companies that run its AI models, it tracks you for advertising, and there's no button to delete your account. Its terms also let it charge you for the cost of answering a subpoena about your account.
We make Lovi Dream, an adult AI girlfriend app that competes with CrushOn, so read this with that in mind. We read CrushOn's privacy policy, terms of use and pricing page on November 5, 2026, along with its reviews on Trustpilot and Reddit. We didn't buy a CrushOn plan.
Who runs CrushOn AI
CrushOn AI is run by TECHIEPIE LTD, which its terms describe as "a company registered in Cyprus", with an office in Nicosia and a second address in Dover, Delaware. The privacy policy says "We operate in the United States", so your data may be handled there. The terms then say the service is "deemed solely based in Hong Kong" and fall under Hong Kong law. With three countries named, it's hard to know where you could take a complaint.
The terms include a class action waiver, so you can only bring a dispute on your own. One clause is unusual even for adult apps: if CrushOn has to answer a subpoena about your account, it "may charge You for our costs", including lawyer and staff time and taking part in a deposition.
CrushOn's policies mention a CrushOn app in the App Store and Google Play, but we found no app from TECHIEPIE in Apple's App Store. The closest match there, "Crushmash: Crush On AI Chat", is listed by an individual developer, not by CrushOn's company.
Can CrushOn AI read your chats?
Yes. CrushOn's privacy policy says it uses your chats to run the service and to "help ensure the safety and appropriateness of content", which means its systems check what you write. It also says "We may use User Content from character chats to train AI models." Another line in the same policy says chats are used for training only "in a general way" and that CrushOn "will not link chat contents to specific users". Lovi Dream's privacy policy, which we wrote, also says we use data to train our AI.
Your messages also leave CrushOn. The policy lists the "operator of the AI basic model" among the outside companies it shares data with. CrushOn lets you choose between many chat models, so your messages can go to the company that runs the model you picked.
The policy doesn't mention encryption at all. It promises "commercially reasonable security measures" and says CrushOn "cannot guarantee" your data is safe from intrusion. It keeps your data "for so long as it is reasonably necessary", with no fixed time limit.
In early 2026, a Reddit thread on r/Crushon pointed out that CrushOn's FAQ called chats "private unless you choose to publish them". Private there means other users can't see your chats. It doesn't mean CrushOn can't. The poster said they had shared mental health details with a character, believing no one could read them.
What about Mozilla's warning?
Many articles about CrushOn's safety quote Mozilla's *Privacy Not Included* review from February 2024. Mozilla found that CrushOn's privacy policy at the time let it collect health details, including sexual health and gender-affirming care information. The current policy, updated March 6, 2025, no longer mentions health data. It still allows the AI training described above and the ad tracking below.
What CrushOn AI knows about you
You sign up with Apple, Google, Discord, Line or an email address, and the policy says CrushOn receives your personal information from those sign-in services. So CrushOn isn't anonymous. It also collects your device and network details and how you use the site.
CrushOn uses cookies for "retargeting" and online advertising, which is how its ads can follow you to other websites. The policy says it may add advertising companies' code to its service, and that ad platforms "may create and infer Personal Information" about you from what they see. CrushOn doesn't honor Do Not Track, a browser setting that asks sites not to follow you, and says it and its partners may collect your online activity "both during and after your use of the Service". The policy promises not to sell or share your financial data, but that promise covers financial data only.
CrushOn can also hand over your information "without notice or your consent" when it believes the law requires it, to respond to a crime, to investigate a broken rule, "or in the interests of us or any person".
Payments, cancelling and refunds
The free plan gives 100 message credits a month, and CrushOn deletes a free account's chat history after 7 days of inactivity. Paid plans billed yearly run from $58.88 a year for Standard to $1,799.99 a year for Imperial, and keep your chat history while you're a member, according to the pricing page. You pay by card or through "Other Payments". The terms say card details go through Basis Theory, a payment security company that replaces your card number with a stand-in code, called a token. Neither the terms nor the pricing page say what name shows on your bank statement.
To cancel, go to Profile, then My Subscription, then Manage, and click Cancel Subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. You have to cancel before the next billing date, and the terms say a renewal you miss "will not be refunded". CrushOn gives no partial refunds for unused time or downgrades, and its fees are non-refundable except where its refund policy or the law requires one. Subscription questions go through a ticket on CrushOn's Discord server, not by email.
There's no delete button in the policy either. "To close your account, please email us at support@crushon.ai," it says.
The $0.99 age check
Three Trustpilot reviewers say CrushOn asked for full card details and a $0.99 payment before it would turn on 18+ content. One reviewer from the US wrote in August 2026 that CrushOn called this "age verification", and that support answered the question with only "Hello, how can I assist you?" A UK reviewer complained that CrushOn asked for a payment instead of a face scan or an ID check. CrushOn's terms don't mention the charge.
What users say about CrushOn AI
CrushOn has 1.8 stars from 22 reviews on Trustpilot, and 91% of them are one-star. CrushOn hasn't claimed its profile or invited customers to leave reviews, so Trustpilot warns that the reviews may not be representative. Beyond the $0.99 check, they complain about new content filters and about characters refusing scenes they used to play.
The top Reddit result for this search is a 2023 post praising CrushOn for removing "ALL filters". Recent threads on r/Crushon are less happy. In a thread from April 2026, free and paying users said CrushOn kept removing the chat models they liked and replacing them with slower, more filtered ones, and in an October 2026 thread a user said they wouldn't renew their yearly membership because features kept getting taken away.
We found no reported data breach at CrushOn AI as of November 5, 2026. Other companion apps have leaked: in 2025, researchers found two AI girlfriend apps that left millions of private messages and more than 600,000 images and videos open to anyone online.
How to use CrushOn AI more safely
Sign up with an email address you use only for apps like this, or use Sign in with Apple and hide your email.
Leave your real name, workplace, address and health details out of your chats, because CrushOn can read them and may train AI on them.
Use a browser with tracking protection, or block third-party cookies, to limit the ad tracking.
Cancel a day or two before your renewal date, because a renewal you miss won't be refunded.
When you're done, email support@crushon.ai to close your account and ask CrushOn to delete your data.
Our guides to whether Secrets AI is safe, whether Candy AI is safe and whether OurDream AI is safe check those apps the same way.
Compare CrushOn AI with Lovi Dream
Lovi Dream is our app, so read this part with that in mind. Like CrushOn, Lovi doesn't claim end-to-end encryption, and our privacy policy also says we use data to train our AI. Where Lovi differs for a careful user is leaving and refunds. Lovi has a Delete Account button in Settings, which cancels your subscription and removes your profile details without an email to support. Lovi's refund policy gives you 14 days to ask for a refund of your latest subscription charge, as long as you haven't used much of the service in that period. You can also watch the first episodes of every Shorts series, one-minute video stories shot from your point of view, without an account or any personal details.
CrushOn does more in some places. Its library is far bigger, with characters made by its users, and it has group chats, which Lovi doesn't. Lovi's characters keep the last 80 messages of a chat in view, so they won't remember last month. Our pricing page has every Lovi plan, including a one-time Lifetime plan that never renews.
